Is it customary to use the husband’s surname in mainland China?
Many Taiwanese friends are curious whether it is common in mainland China to use the husband’s surname? In fact, Guanfu's surname is not mainstream in mainland China and can only be seen in some regions or under certain circumstances. Under the influence of traditional concepts, a few women choose to keep their husband's surname, but it is not mandatory. Respecting individual choices is the value of modern society.
